On The Menu

One of my favorite things to make for dinner is reservations. sampling new restaurants and keeping up with the food and wine scene -- both local and global -- is a challenging but fun pursuit. Who among us doesn’t love to experience a buzzed-about restaurant or wine bar when visiting a city? It’s like catnip for travelers.

If Celebrated Living were a restaurant, you’d have a smorgasbord of options with this year’s Food and Wine Issue.

Our cover celebrity, Eva Longoria, shares her love of food and cooking (and fashion). click here Thanks to associate editor Lori Stacy, we have an interesting new profile page called celebrated traveler to share with you. Chef and television personality Anthony Bourdain is our first subject for this page -- a perfect choice for our Food and Wine issue. Writer Larry Olmsted, who raved about his interview with Bourdain, has written for Celebrated Living for years, and has a new book called Getting Into Guinness, a look at the crazy world of Guinness record setting, including giant foods like a 28-mile-long sausage and an 11-ton risotto.

Another talented writer, Nicole Alper, takes you to South America for a gourmet journey filled with food and fine wines. A graduate of the California Culinary Academy and an accomplished cookbook author, Alper got behind the scenes at the prestigious Masters of Food & Wine, South America. We’ve posted her video clip on our website at www.celebratedliving.com under “Furthermore,” an online addition to our magazine with web-exclusive extras like wonderful recipes from top chefs.

Also on the menu: Get the inside scoop on wine auctions from Chris Warren, sample sake as Michael Kaplan demystifies this sometimes-perplexing potion, and appreciate the art and psychology of wine labels with writer Anthony Dias Blue.

You’ve told us that our annual Food and Wine Issue is a favorite, and the food-loving staff at CL enjoys creating it (art director Marilyn Calley hails from Hawaii and is a pro at Hawaiian and Asian cuisine, while associate art director Eva Wojnar has mastered many European specialties).

So whether you’re making reservations or planning a home-cooked masterpiece
tonight, we hope you’ll find this Food and Wine Issue most satisfying.
